people saying they are putting their bicycles away in storage for the winter.
WHY!!!????
its just weather. they make winter gear. why stop riding? trails are vacant, bike paths are empty, your favorite back roads and secret chill spots are really peaceful, the dead of the trees, winter is just as beautiful to ride in as any other season. when the snow is falling and you are huffing through it, the slush from the tires, people looking at you like you are completly insane and all you have in your head is “this, this is what life is about” dont put your bikes up people. you may not wake up tomorrow to ride again.
Here’s to all my fellow cyclists who will never race, never have the $5,000 bike, or be the fastest person on their block but who bike to the store, class, work, the movies. Who will never have carbon fiber bottle cages but who don’t mind panniers for groceries. We may not be winning trophies, but we’re having some fun and saving the planet in our own way, aren’t we?

HAPPINESS IS EASY TO MEASURE.
The length of my shadows is directly proportional to the depth of my experience out there on my bike.
Early, early mornings or early, early evenings.
That’s where the good stuff is.
The sun and I are on the same level. We’re eye-to-eye. We’re both just getting started or calling it a day and the emotions are deep.
The calmness of the morning means interesting things are in store.
The calmness of the evening means the work is finished, what’s done is done and that’s that.
Here’s to long shadows and longer rides.
